RRB Technician CEN 02/2026 Recruitment Online Form for 6,565 Railway Posts

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) have officially released the Centralized Employment Notice (CEN) 02/2026 for the recruitment of 6,565 Technician vacancies in various departments across different railway zones. This recruitment drive is an excellent career path for engineering graduates, diploma holders, and matriculates with ITI trade certificates. Zonal Railway Recruitment Boards will accept online applications starting June 30, and the registration window will close on July 29, 2026. The positions are divided into Technician Grade I Signal (Pay Level 5) and Technician Grade III (Pay Level 2). Candidates can register online through the unified portal at rrbapply.gov.in.

Age Limit & Age Relaxation Benefits

The age limits for the posts are calculated as of July 1, 2026. Special age relaxations are granted by the government due to recruitment gaps:

• Technician Grade I Signal: 18 to 36 Years.
• Technician Grade III: 18 to 33 Years.
• Age Relaxation Rules: SC & ST candidates get 5 years relaxation. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years relaxation. PwD candidates get 10 years (Unreserved), 13 years (OBC), and 15 years (SC/ST) relaxation. Ex-Servicemen get length of service plus 3 years.

Examination Scheme and CBT Exam Syllabus

The selection process comprises a single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Verification and a Medical Examination. There will be separate CBT exams for Grade I and Grade III because of their educational level differences. The duration of the CBT will be 90 minutes for 100 questions. There is a negative marking of one-third (1/3) mark for every incorrect answer.

- Mathematics: Number System, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement-Arguments and Assumptions.
- Basic Science & Engineering (for Grade I): Physics fundamentals, Units, Measurements, Mass, Weight and Density, Work, Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy.

Medical Fitness Category Requirements

Candidates must qualify the required medical standards during the medical examination. Color blindness, refractive errors, and binary vision deficiencies will disqualify candidates from Grade III locomotive and signal maintenance roles:

• Medical Standard A-3: Physically fit in all respects. Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 2D). Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses and must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision, and Night Vision.
• Medical Standard B-1: Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses. Must pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision, and Mesopic Vision.

Step-by-Step Online Application Process

1. Open the official portal for RRB recruitment at rrbapply.gov.in.
2. Click on "Apply" and choose "Create an Account". Enter Aadhaar details, personal information, mobile number, and email. Verify via OTP.
3. Log in with your registered mobile/email and password.
4. Click on the active link for CEN 02/2026. Select the preferred RRB zone (candidates can apply to only one RRB zone).
5. Fill in educational records (matriculation details, ITI trades, or degree/diploma certificates).
6. Upload scanned photograph (white background, 35mm x 45mm, size 30-70 KB) and scanned signature (30-70 KB).
7. Pay the application fee of Rs. 500/- (Gen/OBC) or Rs. 250/- (SC/ST/ESM/Female/PwD) through online payment modes.
8. Submit the application and print the final acknowledgment page for verification.
