The Odisha Police State Selection Board has announced a major recruitment drive for the recruitment of 7,664 vacancies of Civil Constables, OISF (Odisha Industrial Security Force) Constables, and Sub-Inspectors (SI) in various districts and police divisions. Eligibility Criteria & Language Proficiency Conditions

Candidates must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible for Odisha Police jobs:

• Academic Qualification: Candidates must have passed the High School Certificate (10+2 / Intermediate) Examination. Crucially, candidates must be able to speak, read, and write Odia. They must have passed Odia as a language subject in the High School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent examination.
• Age Limit (As on January 1, 2026): Candidates must be between 18 and 23 years of age. For Sub-Inspector, the age limit is 21 to 25 years. The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC, ST, SEBC (OBC), and female candidates. Home Guards are eligible for relaxation up to 30 years as per government norms.

Selection Process & Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

The selection process comprises four stages: Written Test, Physical Measurement Test (PMT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and Medical Examination. PMT is qualifying in nature, but candidates failing to meet physical standards are eliminated immediately:

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Standards

Physical efficiency trials are conducted to test endurance and strength. There are no marks awarded for PET, but candidates must pass the events under the specified timeline:

• Running Event (Men): Run 1.6 Km within 6.5 Minutes (6 minutes 30 seconds).
• Running Event (Women): Run 1.6 Km within 8.5 Minutes (8 minutes 30 seconds).
• Broad Jump (Men): Minimum jump of 3.66 Meters (allowed 3 chances).
• Broad Jump (Women): Minimum jump of 2.75 Meters (allowed 3 chances).

Written Exam Pattern & Syllabus Guidelines

The written exam is a Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of 100 objective type questions. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. The syllabus covers the following areas:

1. Odia Language: Grammar, Translation, Sentence correction, Vocabulary, Comprehension passages.
2. English Language: Grammar, Tense, Passive/Active voice, Synonyms, Antonyms, Cloze test, Fill in the blanks.
3. Arithmetic: Number System, Fractions, Simplification, Ratio and Proportion, HCF & LCM, Average, Profit & Loss, Percentage, Simple Interest.
4. General Knowledge: History of India and Odisha, Geography, Scientific advancements, Current affairs (State and National), Indian Polity, Static GK.
5. Logical Reasoning & Situational Awareness: Analogies, Blood relations, Venn diagrams, Coding-decoding, Decision making under stress, ethical law enforcement logic.
