SBI PO 2026 Recruitment Notification: Apply for 1,500 Posts
The State Bank of India (SBI) has officially announced the recruitment of Probationary Officers (PO) for the financial year 2026-27. A total of 1,500 vacancies are available across various branches of State Bank of India nationwide. Eligibility Criteria & Age Limit
Educational Qualification:
Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. Those who are in the Final Year/Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 31-08-2026.
Age Limit (as of 01-04-2026):
Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age (born not earlier than 02-04-1996 and not later than 01-04-2005, both days inclusive). Upper age relaxation is applicable as per rules:
- SC/ST Candidates: 5 Years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Candidates: 3 Years
- PwBD Candidates: 10 to 15 Years depending on category
Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The selection process for SBI PO is divided into three distinct phases:
Phase-I: Preliminary Examination (CBT)
The Preliminary Exam consists of an Objective Test for 100 marks conducted online. This test is of 1-hour duration consisting of 3 Sections as follows:
- English Language: 30 questions (30 marks, 20 minutes)
- Quantitative Aptitude: 35 questions (35 marks, 20 minutes)
- Reasoning Ability: 35 questions (35 marks, 20 minutes)
Note: There are no sectional cutoffs in the preliminary exam; overall score determines qualification for mains.
Phase-II: Main Examination
The Main Exam consists of an Objective Test for 200 marks and a Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both tests are online. The Descriptive Test is administered immediately after the completion of the Objective Test.
- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude: 40 questions (50 marks, 50 minutes)
- Data Analysis & Interpretation: 30 questions (50 marks, 45 minutes)
- General/Economy/Banking Awareness: 50 questions (60 marks, 45 minutes)
- English Language: 35 questions (40 marks, 40 minutes)
- Descriptive Test: 2 Questions (Letter Writing & Essay) - 50 Marks (30 minutes)
Phase-III: Psychometric Test & Interview
Candidates qualifying the mains exam will undergo a Psychometric Test, Group Exercise (20 marks), and Interview (30 marks).
Salary Structure & Perks
Currently, the starting basic pay is Rs. 41,960/- (with 4 advance increments) in the scale of 36000-1490/7-46430-1740/2-49910-1990/7-63840. Candidates are also eligible for Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) / Lease rental, CCA, Medical, and other allowances as per rules. The total compensation (CTC) ranges from Rs. 8.20 Lakhs to Rs. 13.08 Lakhs per annum depending on the place of posting.
