SSC MTS and Havaldar Exam 2026 Recruitment Notification Out

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official recruitment notification for the Multi Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff (MTS) and Havaldar (in CBIC and CBN) Examination 2026. This is one of the most popular examinations for matriculate candidates across India. The online application link is active from June 15, 2026, to July 15, 2026.

Post Distribution & Pay Matrix

The SSC MTS 2026 recruitment aims to fill approximately 7,000+ vacancies across India. The tentative posts are:

• Multi Tasking Staff (MTS): 4,500 Posts (Pay Band 1: basic pay Rs. 18,000/- along with HRA, DA, and TA).
• Havaldar (CBIC/CBN): 2,500 Posts (Pay Level 1 as per 7th CPC Pay Matrix).

Eligibility Criteria & Age Limits

Candidates must check the eligibility standards before applying:

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the Matriculation (Class 10th) Examination or equivalent from a recognized Board as of the closing date.
• Age Limits (As of 01-08-2026):
  • 18-25 years for MTS and Havaldar in CBN (Department of Revenue).
  • 18-27 years for Havaldar in CBIC (Department of Revenue) and few posts of MTS.
  • Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.

SSC MTS Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The examination consists of a Computer Based Examination (CBE) followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) / Physical Standard Test (PST) (only for the post of Havaldar).

The Computer Based Exam is divided into two Sessions:

• Session I: Numerical and Mathematical Ability (20 questions, 60 marks) & Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving (20 questions, 60 marks). Duration: 45 minutes. No negative marking.
• Session II: General Awareness (25 questions, 75 marks) & English Language and Comprehension (25 questions, 75 marks). Duration: 45 minutes. Negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.

Physical Standards for Havaldar Post

For the Havaldar post, candidates must qualify the following physical tests:

• Walking: Male: 1600 meters in 15 minutes. Female: 1 km in 20 minutes.
• Height: Male: 157.5 cms (relaxable by 5 cm for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas). Female: 152 cms.
• Weight (Female only): 48 kg (relaxable by 2 kg).

Follow these steps to complete your registration and submit the application:

1. Visit the official website of the Staff Selection Commission at ssc.gov.in.
2. If you are a new applicant, register yourself under the One-Time Registration (OTR) link to receive registration details.
3. Log in to the dashboard using your Registration Number and Password.
4. Click on the "Apply" button under the Multi-Tasking Staff & Havaldar Exam 2026 section.
5. Verify your pre-filled OTR data, and select 3 preferred exam centers.
6. Provide state preferences for job postings.
7. Upload a live photograph using the webcam (ensure background is light and face is clear) and a scanned signature image.
8. Pay the fee of Rs. 100/- online using BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Debit Cards. Women, SC, ST, ESM, and PwD candidates are exempted.
9. Submit the application form and print the copy for confirmation.
