NCL Apprentice Recruitment 2026-27 Overview

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Mini Ratna Company and subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has officially announced the Apprentice Trainee Recruitment 2026-27 with 1607 openings under Ref. No. NCL/HRD/CETI/2026-27/168. The detailed notification was published on 25-05-2026 at nclcil.in. Indian Nationals who have passed their Degree/Diploma/ITI/Paramedical qualification from any AICTE/BTE/UGC/SCVT/NCVT recognized Institute functional and operational in Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh can submit their online applications. This is a great opportunity for candidates from UP/MP to join NCL, Singrauli as Apprentice Trainees for one year under the Apprentice Act 1961.

Application Fee

There is no application fee for the NCL Apprentice Trainee Recruitment 2026-27. Candidates must apply online through the NATS/NAPS government portals.

Age Limit

Candidates' age will be calculated as on the cut-off date 01-06-2026. Applicants must be born on or between 01-06-2000 and 01-06-2008, meaning a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 26 years. Age relaxations are applicable for reserved categories as per government rules.

Vacancy Details

A total of 1607 vacancies have been notified across Graduate, Diploma, Trade (ITI), and Paramedical disciplines. Reservation is available category-wise as per the Apprentice Act 1961 and applicable guidelines. PwBD horizontal reservation is applicable for 58 posts.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy all eligibility conditions as on the cut-off date, i.e., 01-06-2026. Candidature is provisional and subject to verification of original documents before joining.

Selection Process

Selection will be made purely on the basis of merit drawn from qualifying examination marks, followed by document scrutiny and a mandatory medical test. No written examination will be conducted by NCL for this recruitment.

Stage 1 – Merit List Preparation

For Graduate and Diploma positions, merit is drawn on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying Graduation/Diploma examination. For ITI Trade positions, merit is based on the average of passing percentage in Matriculation and the respective National/State Trade Certificate. Candidates are arranged in descending order of marks. In case of a tie, date of birth (older candidate preferred) and then alphabetical order of name will be applied.

Stage 2 – Document Scrutiny

Shortlisted candidates based on merit will be called to appear with all original certificates for scrutiny. Date and venue will be notified on nclcil.in and through NATS/NAPS portal or email. Failure to appear or produce valid documents within the stipulated date and time will result in cancellation of candidature.

Stage 3 – Medical Examination

Final offer for Apprenticeship Training is subject to clearing the Medical Test as per prescribed standards under the Mines Rules 1955. A fitness certificate from the medical officer of a Government Hospital (rank not less than Assistant Civil Surgeon) in the prescribed format (Annexure-3) must be produced. The Medical Fitness certificate must be issued after the date of release of this Notification.

Salary / Stipend

The monthly stipend for NCL Apprentice Trainees varies by post type:

• Graduate Apprentice: Rs. 12,300/-
• Diploma Apprentice: Rs. 10,900/-
• Trade Apprentice (ITI): Rs. 9,600/- to Rs. 10,560/-
• Paramedical Graduate: Rs. 13,700/-
• Paramedical Diploma: Rs. 12,700/-

How to Apply

Candidates must apply online only. Follow these steps:

1. Register on Portal: Graduate and Diploma Apprentice candidates must first enrol on the NATS portal at https://nats.education.gov.in. Trade Apprentice candidates must enrol on the NAPS portal at https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.
2. Obtain Enrolment ID: After successful registration, a registration number (Enrolment ID) will be generated.
3. Apply for NCL Positions: Use the generated Enrolment ID to apply for the NCL positions through the respective NATS/NAPS portal.
4. Required Documents/Details: Have your Valid NATS/NAPS Enrolment ID, scanned colour photograph and signature, Date of Birth (as per Matriculation), academic details (marks), category certificate (if applicable), PwBD certificate (if applicable), and address details ready.
5. Print Application: Save and preserve a hard copy as well as soft copy of the finally submitted online application for future reference.
