Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has officially released the Constable Tradesman and Driver Recruitment 2026 notification for 827 Group C Non-Gazetted (Combatised) and Non-Ministerial posts. The posts include Constable (Veterinary), Constable (Driver), Constable (Gardener), Constable (Water Carrier), Constable (Cobbler), Constable (Tailor), Constable (Washerman), Constable (Barber), Constable (Waiter), Constable (Carpenter) and Constable (Nursing Orderly).
All selected candidates will be placed at Pay Level-3 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Matrix with a basic pay of Rs. 21,700 to 69,100 per month, along with Dearness Allowance, Ration Money Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other central government benefits.

Constable (Veterinary): 18 to 27 years
Constable (Driver) Male: 18 to 27 years
Constable (Gardener, Water Carrier, Cobbler, Tailor, Washerman, Barber, Waiter): 18 to 23 years

Constable (Nursing Orderly): 18 to 27 years
Age Relaxation: SC/ST - 5 years, OBC - 3 years, Ex-Servicemen - 3 years after deduction of military service from actual age. J/K/Ladakh domiciles and dependents of 1984 riot victims get relaxation as per notified limits.
Educational Qualification (Post-wise)
Constable (Veterinary): 10th pass with Science as main subject from a recognised board plus 1 year experience in treatment of animals in a recognised veterinary hospital.
Constable (Driver) Male: 10th pass from a recognised board plus a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence.
Constable (Gardener, Water Carrier, Cobbler, Tailor, Washerman, Barber, Waiter): Matriculation or equivalent plus either 2 years work experience in the respective trade, or 1 year ITI/Vocational certificate with 1 year experience, or 2 years ITI diploma in the same or similar trade. Must qualify trade test. Multi-skilled candidates will be given preference.
Constable (Carpenter): Matriculation or equivalent plus either 2 years work experience in the trade, or 1 year ITI/Vocational certificate with 1 year experience, or 2 years ITI diploma in the trade. Must qualify trade test.
Constable (Nursing Orderly): 10th pass plus First Aid certificate from St. John's Ambulance Organisation or Red Cross Society of India, and minimum 1 year working experience as Nursing Orderly in a 50-bedded hospital/institution recognised by Central/State Government.
Note: Candidates who are awaiting results or not in possession of required certificates on the last date of application must not apply.
Salary and Pay Structure
Post: All Constable Posts (Tradesman, Driver, Veterinary, Nursing Orderly)
Pay Level: Level-3 as per 7th CPC Pay Matrix
Basic Pay Range: Rs. 21,700 to 69,100 per month
Other Benefits: Dearness Allowance (DA), Ration Money Allowance, House Rent Allowance (HRA) and other admissible allowances as per Central Government rules. Candidates will be covered under Defined Contributory Pension Scheme or Unified Pension Scheme as applicable for new central government entrants.

SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and Female candidates: Fully Exempted from application fee.
Applications submitted without successful fee payment (where applicable) will be rejected.
Selection Process
Stage 1 – Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Male candidates must complete 4.8 km race in 24 minutes. Female candidates must complete 2.4 km race in 18 minutes. Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET but must attend all other stages.
Stage 2 – Physical Standard Test (PST): Height and chest measurements (for male candidates) will be checked as per category and region-wise standards. Candidates not meeting minimum standards will be rejected.
Stage 3 – Written Examination: Objective-type written test covering General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, Reasoning and Trade-related subjects as per SSB guidelines.
Stage 4 – Trade/Skill Test: Practical trade test for Tradesman posts and driving/maintenance test for Driver post to assess hands-on skills and proficiency.
Stage 5 – Documentation and Medical Examination: Verification of original documents including matriculation certificate, trade certificate, category certificate, and experience proof, followed by medical examination as per SSB prescribed medical standards.
How to Apply for SSB Constable Recruitment 2026
Step 1 – Visit the official SSB recruitment portal ssb.gov.in or recruitment.ssb.gov.in and open the Constable online application link for Advertisement No. 524/RC/SSB/Combined Advt./CT to SI (Non-GD)/2025.
Step 2 – Complete the registration using a valid email ID and mobile number. Log in and fill in personal, educational, communication and trade-related details in the SSB Constable online application form.
Step 3 – Select only ONE post from the available Constable posts. A candidate can apply for one post only. Upload scanned copies of photograph, signature and required documents in the prescribed format and size.
Step 4 – Pay the application fee online (if applicable) through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card or UPI. Submit the form and take a printout of the final submitted application for future reference.
Important Instructions for Applicants
Candidates must bring all original documents including matriculation certificate and technical/trade pass certificate along with self-attested photocopies at the time of documentation. Absence of original documents will lead to rejection of candidature.
Name, Father's Name and Date of Birth must be mentioned exactly as recorded in the Matriculation certificate. Any discrepancy must be supported by valid documents.
Government/Semi-Government/PSU employees must apply through proper channel and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of documentation.
Falsification or forgery of documents will lead to legal action, cancellation of candidature and permanent debarring from future SSB examinations.
Admit cards and call letters will be uploaded on the official SSB website only. Candidates are advised to regularly check ssb.gov.in and recruitment.ssb.gov.in for updates.
Change in category will NOT be entertained once registered. The candidature of such candidates will be cancelled.
