The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur released the JEE Advanced 2025 results on Monday. Out of 1,80,422 candidates who appeared for the exam, only 54,378 qualified—revealing a significant gender disparity in success rates.

📊 Gender Breakdown: Only 17.3% Girls Qualified

Among the 54,378 qualified candidates,

• 41,337 are boys

• 9,404 are girls

This means only 17.3% of successful candidates are female, while a dominant 82.7% are male. Despite a slight year-on-year improvement, the gender gap in performance remains wide.

🏆 No Girls in Top 15 Yet Again

For the sixth time in the past seven years, no girl has secured a spot in the Top 15 All India Ranks.

• The top-ranked girl this year is Devdatta Majhi, who secured AIR 16.

• She scored 312 out of 600 and belongs to the IIT Kharagpur zone.

📈 Is There Progress for Female Candidates?

Despite the underrepresentation in top ranks, this year marks a record number of female qualifiers:

• 9,404 girls qualified, the highest ever since 2017

• In comparison, only 7,137 girls qualified in 2017, accounting for roughly 14% of successful candidates at the time.

Experts see this as a positive trend, suggesting that with more awareness, support, and access to coaching, more girls could qualify for IITs in the coming years.
