Eligibility Criteria & Age Limits

Candidates must fulfill the age, nationality, and educational requirements specified below:

• Age Limit: Candidates must be between 17.5 and 21 years of age at the time of enrolment. For the 2026 intake, the candidate's date of birth must fall between October 1, 2005, and April 1, 2009 (both dates inclusive). No age relaxation is applicable under the Agnipath scheme.
• Educational Qualifications:
  • Agniveer General Duty (GD): Class 10th/Matric pass with 45% marks in aggregate and 33% in each subject.
  • Agniveer Technical: 10+2/Intermediate Exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 40% in each subject.
  • Agniveer Office Assistant / SKT: 10+2/Intermediate Exam pass in any stream (Arts, Commerce, Science) with 60% marks in aggregate and minimum 50% in each subject. Proficiency in computer typing is desirable.

Selection Process (2-Phase Examination)

The recruitment of Agniveers is conducted in two main phases to ensure mental and physical suitability:

Phase I: Online Common Entrance Exam (CEE)

Phase I is an online computer-based exam. Candidates are tested on General Knowledge, General Science, Mathematics, and Logical Reasoning. The question paper structure depends on the post. There is negative marking for wrong answers.

Phase II: Recruitment Rally (Physical & Medical Tests)

Candidates who qualify in the CEE are shortlisted for the regional recruitment rallies. The rally consists of the following tests:

Compensation Package & Seva Nidhi

Agniveers are paid a customized monthly package along with yearly increments. A contribution of 30% from the monthly salary is matched by the Government of India to build the Seva Nidhi Package:

• 1st Year Salary: Rs. 30,000/- per month (In-hand: Rs. 21,000/-)
• 2nd Year Salary: Rs. 33,000/- per month (In-hand: Rs. 23,100/-)
• 3rd Year Salary: Rs. 36,500/- per month (In-hand: Rs. 25,550/-)
• 4th Year Salary: Rs. 40,000/- per month (In-hand: Rs. 28,000/-)
• Seva Nidhi Package: After 4 years of service, candidates will receive a tax-free package of approximately Rs. 11.71 lakhs.
